About
Launched in 2002, SHOWstudio's Design Download series has a simple and direct aim: to help demystifying the fashion process by offering prestigious designer garment patterns for download via the Internet. Think of them as the online equivalent of a 'free gift with purchase'. The first designer to contribute to the series was internationally acclaimed designer Yohji Yamamoto, allowing SHOWstudio viewers download the building-block of a key Yamamoto garment from their computers and make up into an exclusive, mystery garment, free of charge. But there's a twist: rather than the step-by-step how-to usually supplied with domestic dressmaking patterns, Yamamoto left only a cryptic hint for viewers to unpick the complexities of his design. A series of photographic studies of the final garment by Nick Knight's also hold the visual key to stitching together your own rendition.
