Young London-based designer Claire Barrow and The Horrors' leading man Faris Badwan join SHOWstudio for Petal the first LiveStudio of our Flora season. Barrow sprang to the fashion world's attention earlier this year with a series of acclaimed projects, including a collaboration with Joseph that saw her customise vintage leather jackets with hand-painting, a technique that has now become her signature. This was followed by a knock out graduation show at Westminster University and an impressive debut with Fashion East. Under Lulu Kennedy's wing Barrow continues to produce highly sought after custom leather pieces rendered with motifs that range from surrealism's sirens to floral ensembles.
In the midst of our Flora exhibition, for which Nick Knight has ventured into the world of the 'hand rendered' with a series of pieces that were manipulated manually post-printing, there is no-one better to join us than Barrow with her painterly techniques and flora-inspired designs. The designer will be live on camera over two days, 7 and 8 November, and will customise a biker jacket with an array of roses painted from life.
To add a human touch to the flora-inspired proceedings, Barrow will create her design specifically for Faris Badwan, vocalist of British rock quintet The Horrors. Badwan's lyricism and look share Barrow's affinity with post punk culture, making him the perfect model to bring the creation to life in front of Nick Knight's camera on the final day of the broadcast.
