'I chose this image because, we as a human species, need an escape to survive, more than ever now.
Lockdown has allowed us to think deeper and slow down. Great for development and innovation.
Fashion gives us relief from the daily struggle and the mundane.
Fashion is important, it just needs reframing. The future of fashion will evolve, sustainably.
To me, as a young girl, fashion was my expression and my escape from the boring, and opens up....to fantasy. I came from disfunction, like most people I know.
My family, was concerned with survival. Very Basic. I came from a family of six children raised by one mother, we were dirt poor.
Fashion was for the elite and rich and I dreamt of the glamour and power it could bring me if only I could access it.
Fashion is ART, and for everyone. It takes us away and brings a sense of wonder and joy. It makes it worthwhile and it gives us hope for our future.
To dream and hope and play. The McQueen collection is always THAT.
I know the fashion world has been hit hard with superficial processes and the threat to the planet. We just need to rethink the impact it has and how to do it without harming our dear Mother Earth. We can do this: we are humans in an intelligent era, lets use our superpowers.'
