Day 1: Isabella Blow Fashion Galore

Isabella Blow’s Rolodex, facing page bearing the telephone number for the Rare Breed Society, a national charity working to conserve and protect the UK’s rare native breeds of farm animals from extinction. Isabella was a keen supporter although her membership subscription occasionally lapsed.

Letter addressed to Mrs Detmar Blow from the Society for the Protection of Antique Buildings, confirming a meeting requested by Isabella. The society was established in 1877 with William Morris as one of its founding members, its mission being the repair and upkeep of old, interesting or listed buildings.

Receipt for a purchase of Givenchy Haute Couture. The receipt formed part of an expenses claim made to the Sunday Times Style Magazine, identified in Isabella’s hand as ‘business clothes’. It is not known if this claim was processed.

Show Credits for Alexander McQueen’s A/W 1996 collection, Dante. Isabella is not credited although the show was dedicated to her and Alexander’s mother, both of whom received floral bouquets from the designer after his bow.
