Ben Whyman is manager of the Centre for Fashion Curation, a research centre based at London College of Fashion. He is responsible for overseeing project management of exhibitions and events, as well as production of publications on the practice and theory of fashion curation.
While at LCF, Whyman began a PhD aiming to conflate material culture and biographical methodologies. Analysing collections of menswear at the V&A Museum and Fashion Museum in Bath, he explores how a greater appreciation of the materiality of clothing can augment our understanding of lives lived.
His works include a chapter on Hardy Amies as couturier for London Couture 1923-1975: British Luxury, and an in conversation with fashion exhibition-maker, Judith Clark, for the Fashion Project which took place in Bal Harbour. In 2014 Whyman worked with Clark to realise the Louis Vuitton archive galleries at Asnières in Paris.
