Christopher Sutton trained as a fine artist at Belfast's University of Ulster. Following his initial studies, he worked as director and costume designer on various short film projects. In 2008 he graduated from the prestigious Gaiety School of Acting: The National Theatre School of Ireland as a professional actor and performance artist. Sutton went on to work with Rankin, and received the UnLtd Millennium Award Fund for his first documentary film in 2009.

Sutton has worked with directors, stylists and artists across the scope of fashion and the entertainment industry, including Nicola Formichetti, Nick Knight, Steven Meisel, Steven Klein and Patti Wilson. His collaborations with musical artists have included work with stellar figures such as Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj and Scissor Sisters.

Since 2012, Sutton has been working with Marilyn Manson as the artist's fashion director. He provided fashion direction for Marilyn Manson's Twins of Evil world tour, and continues to work with the performer on tours, videos and promotional material.

He is also Director of Chris Sutton Studio, a creative consultancy working on varied special design and art commissions, with a fashion basis.

Most recently, Sutton collaborated with Nick Knight to create a punk-inspired film on the photographer's art and fashion website SHOWstudio.com.

Sutton currently works as Nick Knight's Creative Assistant.
