Jessica Lagunas

Artist

Jessica Lagunas is an artist. She was born in Nicaragua and grew up in Guatemala where she studied graphic design at Universidad Rafael Landí­var. In 2001, she migrated to New York, where she now lives and works, yet has kept a permanent dialogue with Guatemala, which has been a departing point for her artwork.

Lagunas’ works have been exhibited internationally with exhibitions in the United States, Guatemala, Venezuela and Italy, including public exhibitions at the Bronx Museum of the Arts (2006) and Jersey City Museum (2007). Her works have been included in various international art biennales including the Paiz Biennial (Guatemala, 2008) and El Museo del Barrio’s Biennial (New York, 2007). Both in 2007 and 2008 she was a recipient of NoMAA Grant Program for Individual Artists, New York.
