Rita Ackermann graduated in 1993 at the New York School of Painting, Drawing and Sculpture (Hanes Foundation) in New York, having previously studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest.
Ackermann received a considerable amount of attention from the very outset of her professional career, mostly likely due to the titillating nymph-like figures that appeared in her early work. Popular with the fashion industry, she has also collaborated with filmmaker Harmony Korine.
