Colour, movement and unadulterated joy are all things which spring to mind when thinking of PLEATS PLEASE ISSEY MIYAKE, the Japanese brand which celebrates its 30th anniversary this May. The iconic, pleated designs which don't prescribe to any one body shape and are created as pieces for life, have become wardrobe staples for many the world over.
This month, the brand are celebrating their innovative fashion history, having developed a fabric which ticks all the boxes. As well as its lightweight and kinetic characteristics, modelled for the 30th anniversary campaign by dancing models who each represent a musical note, the line is also described by PLEATS PLEASE ISSEY MIYAKE as being 'wrinkle-resistant' and 'static electricity resistant'. Despite its rich technical capabilities, PLEATS PLEASE ISSEY MIYAKE is made with ease of living in mind; they're garments for life but also for the everyday which can be dressed up or down.
Alongside an anniversary fashion film, PLEATS PLEASE ISSEY MIYAKE have launched two collections to mark the occasion. PATH plays on the brand's name, allowing the letters which make up "PLEATS PLEASE" to run free, forming an abstract print on tops, pants and a dress in multi-colour and monochrome colourways. Then the brand's beloved MONTHLY COLOURS line gets special treatment, with May's edition of seven colours inspired by the brand's original pastel toned logo.
