Everyday Objects Get Fendi-fied By Design Studio Bless
Is there anything more luxurious than a fur coat? What about a fur-covered spray bottle? That’s exactly what design studio Bless has created as part of an immersive installation at this year’s Design Miami. Teaming up with Fendi, the innovative studio known for blurring the lines between art and fashion celebrating the furrier's illustrious history and unmatched craftsmanship, with a display dubbed 'Fendibackfrontals'.
Founded by Desiree Heiss and Ines Kaag in 1997, Bless’s partnership with Fendi sees the creation of a dynamic playground that showcases Fendi’s heritage. Created by Fendi Casa, the installation features a series of four double-sided paravents. The front sides are adorned with life-size photo documents and graphic coverings which mirror Fendi interiors.
‘With Fendibackfrontals, Bless is looking to bring the inside out and offer a more complete and human view of the fashion brand, that in general is used to show only its ‘glossy’ side. Visitors are offered direct access to an embodied translation of the admiration Bless feels towards both the public and private sides of Fendi and the extraordinary craftsmanship that supports it’, explains Bless in the press release.
On the back are functional elements such as seating, tables, and storage crafted from rosewood. The walls of the booth are covered in fabric printed with a composite photograph of the paravent backsides, creating a mesmerising 'mirroring' effect. Visitors immerse themselves in the world of Fendi, with each fragment creating a transportive experience. From the entrance to FENDI's Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana headquarters to a kitchen in a FENDI family member's domestic space, the paravents tell a story through imagery and practical design elements.
For Fendi super fans, a standout of the display (which is sure to immerse visitors into the world of Fendi) are whimsical everyday products covered in luxe materials. Spray bottles decorating the space are covered in furs, shearlings, and lamb leather. We couldn't think of a more luxurious way to elevate our cleaning routine.
