About
'To be able to grow a human is to shrink the ego,' says model Erin O'Connor. To celebrate the beauty of the naked pregnant form, and to mark a special life moment, O'Connor asked Nick Knight to photograph her while 8 and 1/2 months pregnant. The images, which echo the elegant arched lines and composed poses of fifties Richard Avedon portraits - O'Connor's favouite photographer - are displayed alongside an interview. While in the early stages of labour, the model spoke to Lou Stoppard about how pregnancy affected her body-image and self-perception. 'By the very nature of what I do, I am consciously aware of how self involved my life has been up until this point. I've always attributed motherhood as a selfless act and it has taken me many years to find the courage to embark on my new role,' she explains.
