Ed Templeton

Artist

Ed Templeton is a professional skateboarder, contemporary artist and photographer. He is also co-editor of arts magazine, ANP Quarterly, started in 2005. Born in Garden Grove, California in 1972, Templeton turned professional skateboarder for New Deal Skateboards in 1990; and in 1993 founded Toy Machine Bloodsucking Skateboard Company, which produced legendary skateboarding videos like Welcome to Hell (1995) and Good and Evil (2004).

Templeton's book of photographs Deformer was awarded first prize at the International Festival of Photography, Rome; and his Teenage Smokers photo installation won the Search for Art Grand Prize, Milan, Italy.

Ed Templeton's photographs and paintings have been exhibited widely. His solo shows include: The Cemetery of Reason, S.M.A.K., Gent, Belgium, 2010; which toured to the Museo d'Arte di Nuoro, Sardinia, Italy, 2010; and to the Mucsarnok Muzeum, Budapest, Hungary, 2011; The Seconds Pass, Roberts & Tilton, Culver City, California; and @California / West Coast USA: Ed Templeton, Cultuurcentrum Kortrijk, Kortrijk, Belgium.

Group exhibitions he has participated in include: A New Art For A New Century: Contemporary Acquisitions 2000-2010, Orange County Museum of Art, Orange Country, California; Perspectives 2010, International Center of Photography, New York, New York; and the Seventh International Biennial of Photography and Visual Arts, Cultural Center of Liège-Les Chiroux, Liège, Belgium.
