Bora Aksu is a Turkish fashion designer based in London.
Aksu graduated with an MA from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in 2002. Pieces from his graduation collection were purchased by designers such as Dolce & Gabbana. The same collection was awarded sponsorship from the ARG equation group which enabled him to make his debut off-schedule catwalk show at London Fashion Week in February 2003. Aksu won the Top Shop New Generation Award in 2003 and was subsequently placed on the official London Fashion Week calendar for S/S 2004. Aksu went on to receive the New generation award a further three times. His entire S/S 2005 collection was purchased by the performer Tori Amos for her 'Bee Keeper' world tour. In 2008, Aksu signed a contract with People Tree-Fair trade organisation to design exclusive capsule collections to raise awareness on fair trade work shops.
Aksu's deftness of touch and investment in craftsmanship also draws on his Turkish roots, giving his collections a unique demi-couture quality; an element that has distinguished the designer's position in the fashion industry.
