Kader Diaby is a photographer, art director and fashion designer from Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
Diaby originally studied and worked in auditing but retrained in photography with the Klaym organisation in collaboration with the University of Arts Zurich. His brand Olooh was founded in 2018 and his first store opened in Abidjan in late 2020. His 2021 collection paid tribute to 1990s Ivorian hip-hop.
The question of the concordance between our intimate and collective identities inhabits his work and resonates more broadly with a redefinition of the plural ways of being African today, in order to move from a subjugated identity to a chosen identity.
Since 2019, the artist has been represented by the Number 8 gallery.
