Txell Miras

Fashion Designer

Txell Miras is a Spanish fashion designer based in Barcelona. After graduating with a BA in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona in 1999, Miras went on to study Fashion Design at the Llotja Arts School of Barcelona. Encouraged by a tutor to enter Milan’s Domus Academy competition, Miras won the competition and was subsequently awarded a scholarship to undertake an MA at the prestigious Italian institution. It was here that she met tutor and consequent collaborator Neil Barrett, whom she began working with in 2003.

For her own eponymous label, founded in 2004, Miras cites Martin Margiela and Comme des Garcons and their reputation for experimentation, volume and concept as influencing her design process. Indeed, concept is at the forefront in Miras’ collections, with her A/W 07 show themed around the idea of existentialism. Since 2002, Miras has won a string of awards including the 2004 Lancôme Prize for Best Young Designer of Barcelona Fashion Week and the 2006 Barcelona es Moda Prize for the Best Professional in Fashion in Barcelona. Miras was also named as a finalist of the Mango Fashion Awards.

She was featured in Hywel Davies' 2008 book, 100 New Fashion Designers.
