Ugbad Abdi is a Somali-American model. Abdi made her runway debut for Valentino Haute Couture S/S 19 after being scouted on Instagram, and has since walked for Burberry, Victoria Beckham and Simone Rocha, opening for Marc Jacobs A/W 19. Abdi was the first model to wear a hijab on the catwalk for designers including Fendi and Lanvin, and has featured in publications including British Vogue, Vogue Arabia and Vogue US. Abdi spent much of her childhood in a Kenyan refugee camp after her family fled the Somali Civil War, and moved to Iowa in the United States when she was nine years old.
