The duo celebrated their 20th anniversary last year marking their enduring partnership that has transformed modern sportswear fashion collaborations. Now, they're taking it one step further with their new line, 'Y-3 Atelier'.

'The Three Stripes are so charming and, at the same time so strong' - Yohji Yamamoto on Y-3

Since debuting on the runway over two decades ago, Y-3 has continued to forge a new path, one that's informed by Yohji Yamamoto's rebellious vision to bring together the worlds of performance-inspired sportswear and avant-garde design. Upending conventions once more Now, the brand is set to upend conventions once more with Y-3 Atelier.

The exclusive line is a dedicated offering set to explore each season's unique narrative, emphasising craft, creation and process. Moulding these three together to form a crystalised vision, 'Monozukuri' - the Japanese phrase for 'making things' - fall at the centre of the Y-3 Atelier, which will eloquently channel the very essence of what Yohji Yamamoto is about. Each piece crafted from the Y-3 Atelier uses patterns recreated from one-of-a-kind Yohji Yamamoto runway pieces, bridging the gap between the collaborative Y-3 line and the designer's own label.

The line's custom three stripes are set to take over here as they adorn dresses, track tops, jackets, skirts, pants and beyond for the label's inaugural collection. Something Yamamoto himself feels strongly about. 'The Three Stripes are so charming and, at the same time so strong. In the black, putting three white stripes, it's very strong. I was excited by that', the designer commented.

The space will exclusively launch at a Paris-based pop-up retail and exhibition space hosted by SSENSE on 42 Rue de Sévigné from 11:00 until 19:00 GMT on 2, 3 and 5 March. Visitors will be able to browse, try on, and purchase pieces from the collection and explore a gallery exhibition featuring photographic works by Moriyama.
