Anna Dello Russo Teaches Masterclass at Istituto Marangoni
For fashion students not yet privy to attending collections during London Fashion Week, Istituto Marangoni provided access to one of the industry's most captivating figures: Vogue Japan editor-at-large Anna dello Russo. The international fashion editor - and IM's scientific director - hosted a series of workshops and an exclusive masterclass at the school's London outpost, sharing her advice and insights from more than 20 years working in fashion.
Moderated by fashion editor Gianluca Longo, the masterclass, titled “A life at Condé Nast”, chronicled dello Russo's journey through the fashion industry, with reference to her two decades at the behemoth lifestyle publisher at Vogue Italia and Vogue Italia Uomo prior to her position for Vogue Japan.
Istituto Marangoni's London School Director, Charlotte Gorse said: "Anna dello Russo has been, for many years, a global style icon and fashion innovator. Her strength and belief in self-expression is a beacon of brilliance for so many inspiring women to speak their minds, show their self-confidence and pursue their dreams.” Indeed, the Italian institution has formed a long-term partnership with the international fashion editor, having appointed dello Russo as Istituto Marangoni's brand ambassador and scientific director.
Istituto Marangoni was born in 1935 in Milan as Istituto Artistico dell’Abbigliamento Marangoni. It has been the launch pad for more than 45,000 fashion and luxury professionals, including Domenico Dolce, Franco Moschino, and Alessandro Sartori. Today Istituto Marangoni has more than 4,000 students every year, from 107 different countries, in the schools in Milano (School of Fashion and School of Design), Firenze (School of Fashion & Art), Paris, London, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Mumbai and Miami.
Anna dello Russo's masterclass is part of a wave of fashion industry experts who are extending their knowledge to the wider public. Similarly, editor-in-chef of American Vogue, Anna Wintour, shares her creativity and leadership expertise in a new series of 12 classes for education platform Masterclass. Wintour, speaking to Vogue.com said, “I know many people are curious about who I am and how I approach my work. This is a class for those who want to understand my leadership style and then understand the experiences that have helped me become an effective leader.”
