Jil Sander Unveils Exploratory Installation Space
Jil Sander's Via Sant'Andrea store in Milan is holding monthly exhibitions, created in collaboration with artists. The shows will explore different aspects of the Jil Sander collections, ranging from the constructional denim details of the Jil Sander+ line to the distilled sculptural shapes of tonal garments.
The creative directors, Lucie and Luke Meier state 'we have many different items that aren’t part of the runway or the campaigns that we really want to be able to show.' For them 'the space offers a chance to be quite exploratory, and to present things in a different way'.
For the inaugural exhibition, the label has transformed the site into a distorted interpretation of Jil Sander's down coat designs, accompanied by artistic investigations of the material. The display spotlights the material's functional aspects and its surreal appearance.
Both a retail space and gallery, the new Jil Sander pop-up is open to the public at Jil Sander, Via Sant'Andrea 16, 20121 Milan, Italy.
