To mark the release of Rick Owens' collaboration with Moncler, Michèle Lamy has modelled alongside her husband in an expressive, monochrome lookbook. 'Insulation, protection, and momentum are my impressions of what Moncler stands for, and applying my aesthetic to an insulated travelling bubble was my answer to the collaborative challenge,' said Owens.

The travelling bubble in question is a custom Owens-designer tour bus, which the couple travelled in earlier this year for a road trip across the Nevada desert. In February, the bus acted as the setting for the reveal of the Rick Owens x Moncler collection at the Moncler 2020 show, and was used by Lamy in Milan yesterday for a day of Zoom discussions with friends, culminating in avant-garde performance by the French designer herself. Zoom guests included Davide Oldani, Vittorio Da Mosto, Paolo Rosso, Alessio Ascari and Myriam Ben Salah, with topics discussed ranging from ethical food consumption to the importance of communities for the youth.

The tour bus itself is an ultra-protective cocoon upholstered in a Moncler duvet, echoing the bubble motif of the new collection. Owens' conceptual, architectural Moncler forms offer solace, insulation and protection during uncertain times, encapsulating the idea of clothing as both armour and comfort.

As part of SHOWstudio's 2018 Queer project, former features editor Lara Johnson-Wheeler interviewed Lamy about the importance of safe spaces within the context of queer communities.
