LN-CC celebrate the arrival of the Our Legacy 'Chambre Séparée' Fall 2019 collection with an event at its London store. The collection draws inspiration from a celebration gone away and young adults inadvertently reforming fine clothing. Pieces are creased, stained, cracked or ripped, patterns have been disfigured, all as signs of youth’s deprivation in a bourgeois setting. In line with live customisation by Hank Grüner, an in-house artist for Our Legacy, an exclusive range of t-shirts have been created especially for LN-CC.

To celebrate 'Chambre Séparée', LN-CC hosted a celebration on 5 September 2019, with a musical programme by Bianca Lexis (NTS) and Skinny Macho (Bone Soda).

Congratulations on the space, I love the continuation of the collection's narrative, is it an extension of Paris?

Richardos Klaren: Exactly.

Christopher Nying: The idea of this was that story: it was New Year's Eve, some rich people had a Chambre Séparée in a fancy restaurant in Stockholm and they trashed the place. Just because they could. When they paid the bill afterwards, all the art was broken but it didn’t matter to them. For me, that story was some kind of reaction, so we had to do something about that. So that's why we did jewellery with the champagne corks and the crinkled shirts. It's not for all but it's maybe for some people who demonstrate against this in some way.

Is that narrative something you work on together?

Hank Gruner: Christopher gives me a really good inspirational way of thinking. For example, this we developed from the beginning with some scarves and we were able to evolve it and take it further.

CN: I actually took Hank to this restaurant, he had lunch by himself. I said that it was super important that he goes there by himself without me. He went there to study, we took photos and analysed. We got behind the kitchen.

HG: I got to see people who were really polished. People who thought they had something in the restaurant so they could act in a different way. I get a different input from Christopher that I can react to.

Tell me a little bit about working with LN-CC. How did this all come together?

RK: Obviously we have worked with each other for a while. We feel that our brand and its brand are very good together.

CN: I think LNCC is fantastic digitally and they probably inspire a lot of brands and other platforms. I guess people forget how good their physical space is, it's very local in that sense, London-based. It's a great opportunity. IRL is still the key, even if you want to be super digital, it's still IRL first in our industry. It’s nice how they combine the digital world with this physical underground place.
