Today Prada release a January themed re-vamp of their touchstone Hawaiian box-cut shirt for the second instalment in their monthly Timecapsule project. Each drop draws on Prada's archives, offering a limited-edition product for both men and women. Fifty units of the shirt are available for 24-hours only via Prada's new e-commerce site.
Following the first Timecapsule drop in December, launched to coincide with the new Prada e-commerce site, the series continues with today's limited-edition release of a January themed shirt. Following the re-launch of Prada's Linea Rossa last year, Timecapsule continues to draw on the Prada archives. First shown for the Spring/Summer 2011 womenswear collection, the 'over' box-cut silhouette featuring a bowling collar and front chest pocket has become somewhat of a Prada staple. This second Timecapsule drop re-vamps the design with a vibrant new print for January. Inspired by an imaginary holiday location, the shirt blends mountain and sea scape. Skiers race down snowy-slopes against an aqua blue sky, which become reminiscent of warm waters as silhouettes of swimwear clad hunks feature across the lower half of the design. Across the back of the shirt, 'January' is printed in a mustard coloured shadowed typeface. The product has a unique serial number which features on a dedicated logo designed by Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas’ studio OMA, to be found on the minimally designed packaging and on the shirt's neck label. Currently only available in Europe, the January shirt is available to buy for 24-hours at £790 exclusively via Prada's e-commerce website.
