Valentino's A/W 20 Haute Couture Teaser

Pierpaolo Piccioli's Valentino A/W 20 haute couture showcase will explore the idea of re-birth, placing the digital in harmony with the human touch and the values of the Maison. A teaser film by Nick Knight and Britt Lloyd released today sees swathes of fabric reveal an aerialist figure twirling weightlessly. With the Valentino show unable to take place as usual in the Hôtel Salomon de Rothschild in Paris, Piccioli and Knight are working to explores alternate ways to tell the Valentino story. Unusually for Piccioli, known for his fantastic use of bold colour, not forgetting the Valentino red, the film is in black and white. However Valentino's signature romance and fantasy comes through as light catches the dress, illuminating it with an almost metallic quality. With music by FKA Twigs- who gave an equally spellbinding performance at the A/W 20 ready-to-wear show- the stage is set for an exclusive live performance, Of Grace and Light, which will take place in Rome on 21 July at Cinecittà Studios.
