With days getting longer (and warmer), spring is finally here. That means it’s time to swap out those scarves for your favourite pair of sunnies. At least, that's what Andreas Kronthaler had in mind with the release of Vivienne Westwood’s 2023 Sun collection. Looking to Hollywood’s starlets of the 50s and 60s, the creative director’s vintage-inspired lineup of sunglasses are just the thing for imbuing your next summer holiday with some much needed Italian glamour.
Adriano Celentano, Sofia Loren, and Marcello Mastroianni’s La Dolce Vita are just some of the inspirations behind Kronthaler’s latest collection. From metal-frame aviators to bold oversized wayfarers, each style is stamped with the brand's instantly recognisable Orb logo. With statement making in mind, each of the frames are crafted in eye-catching jewel tones from soft pink to cobalt blue and forest green. While oversized frames dominant the lineup, the real showstopper are the brand's signature heart-shaped butterfly frames complete with gradient lenses.
Still, keeping true to the late Vivienne Westwood’s commitment to sustainability, each of the frames are produced ethically from 100% green energy. The acetate frames are created from 60% bio-based material and 40% certified recycled content, with the packaging using only recycled or organic material. We should consider the Orb motif the brand's sustainable seal of approval.
