Italian luxury giant Zegna is the latest brand to look west for inspiration. Teaming up with Californian lifestyle label The Elder Statesman to launch its new creative platform, dubbed Oasi Cashmere. The first in a series of partnerships, the launch showcases a collection of cashmere made wardrobe staples that were first teased as part of the A/W 23 Paris Fashion Week.
‘Dialogues like this allow us to add new layers to our world, finding other expressions to Oasi Cashmere. We worked on this collection completely together, merging our shapes with The Elder Statesman’s distinctive colours and all-pervading spontaneity,’ explains Zegna creative director Alessandro Sartori.
The first in an on-going partnership with the Los Angeles-based brand, the choice to team up wasn’t a difficult one to make. After all, Zegna’s design ethos has long been to the devotion of the world’s finest materials and manufacturing. With Oasi Cashmere the Italian brand aims to make their use of cashmere fully traceably by 2024, along with reducing waste.
The partnership see’s Zegna’s already impressive production model team up with The Elder Statesman’s team Californian team. The collection was crafted by a team of 50+ artisans, including knitters, hand-dyers, and embroiderers all housed in their Los Angeles factory, office, and design studio. With the brand having been founded in 2007 with a series of cashmere blankets, collaborating with one of the world’s finest luxury manufacturers, the partnership feels like a full circle moment.
‘This partnership feels like a homecoming, and after two and a half years of deep and meaningful discussions with Zegna, our co-designed collection is a symptom of something much larger: a recognition of quality, craft, and a deep mutual respect,’ says The Elder Statesman founder and CEO Greg Chait.
The Zegna x The Elder Statesman collaboration drops in shops on 1 September.
