The same words get thrown about season in, season out at Margaret Howell. Clean. Simple. Minimal. Effortless. They sound like cliches now, but they're trotted out so often when describing her work because she's the master of that look. No one does timeless classics and fuss-free separates with such quiet confidence as Howell. So it's no surprise that S/S 15 was as appealing as ever.

This season it was the trousers that gave us something new to ponder. Most came cropped with a neat turn up, a style that feels current and relevant given how stylish men are wearing their trews. The more unusual pairs came roomy and with a slight bell bottom, another nod to the wide-leg fever taking hold at the moment. Just as the trousers were perfectly on point, the colours too felt modern. That unusual mustardy green was beautiful, while the cornflower blue offered a flash of cheer.
