Founded in Rome in 1918 by Adele Fendi (née Casagrande) as a small boutique selling leather and fur goods, Fendi is today one of Italy's most famous fashion houses. Joining the house in 1966 and credited with creating its iconic inverted 'F' logo, Karl Lagerfeld introduced ready-to-wear in 1969, and remains Fendi's creative director, working alongside Silvia Venturini Fendi who leads the accessories division. Fendi became the first fashion house to stage a catwalk show on the Great Wall of China in 2007, featuring 88 looks on predominantly Asian models, and an 85 metre-long runway.
