Gucci gets pulses racing with Valentine's Day zine
In anticipation of Valentine's Day, Gucci is launching a pulp-flavoured new zine, A Love Story Presented by Gucci starring Los Angeles-based visual artist Ariana Papademetropoulos as a love-lorn fairy on a journey to find self-acceptance and (of course!) her prince charming. The graphic novella is not the first time the artist has worked with the Italian luxury house, as Papademetropoulos is a face of Gucci’s Mémoire d’Une Odeur fragrance campaign. Her art explores the psychological effects of domesticity, a theme heightened in this collaboration through the use of collaging, a hyperrealist sensibility, and lots of cherry and strawberry-hued Gucci accessories.
With photography by Alexandra Cabral and featuring pieces like heart- and popcorn carton-shaped bags from the Gucci Valentine’s Day 2022 collection, the zine keeps in line with Creative Director Alessandro Michele's penchant for using vintage pop culture as a reference point for his contemporary designs.
The zine is available online and in a limited print version from the 10th of February at the Gucci Garden bookstore in Florence, Italy and the Gucci Wooster in NYC.
