If contemporary fashion had a favourite word it would certainly be collaboration. It seems you can’t open any publication without hearing about the latest partnership between design titans across a multitude of disciplines. Well, co-creation is nothing new for Moncler and Mercedes-Benz who have just released their own collaboration dubbed ‘The Art of Imagination’. The design dream team have unveiled their unique collaboration, an art piece created exclusively by Mercedes-Benz Group AG’s chief design officer Gorden Wagener, as part of Moncler’s ‘The Art of Genius’ live event which took place as part of London Fashion Week. The multi-platform event showcased Moncler's latest roster of co-creators for the next year including appearances by Rick Owens and Pharrell.
The German automotive brand is no stranger to the fashion industry being one of the biggest sponsors of fashion week worldwide since 1995. Of course, cross-cultural co-creation is nothing new for Moncler who introduced the Moncler Genius initiative in 2018. Showcasing the power of collaboration, the French/Italian apres-ski brand has been highlighting the talents of fashion’s biggest names like Craig Green and Jonathan Anderson, tasking them to reimagine their iconic quilted jackets. This collaboration bridges both brand’s outstanding heritage and design language, and spotlights their shared passion for innovation.
