As one of Moncler’s longest collaborative relationships, the latest capsule collection with FRGMT is a love letter to the après-ski brand.
As one of Moncler’s longest collaborative relationships, the latest capsule collection with FRGMT is a love letter to the après-ski brand.
We already know that Moncler loves collaboration. The iconic Moncler Genius initiative has seen the après-ski brand team up with some of fashion’s biggest names like Rick Owens and JW Anderson. This year alone, Moncler has hosted the The Art of Genius concept event in London showcasing a new roster of co-creators, and has landed on Lyst’s Top 10 Brands list. Already proving to be a successful creative partner, for Moncler’s latest collaborative capsule they're once again teaming up with FRGMT.
The streetwear brand founded by Japanese designer Hiroshi Fujiwara has become a favourite among fashion aficionados thanks to their history of collaborating. Fujiwara has previously created collections with a variety of brands across disciplines including Louis Vuitton, Levi’s, Beats by Dre, and Maserati. It was FRGMT that kicked off the Moncler Genius program as their first collaboration back in 2018 with 7 Moncler Fragment.
While Fujiwara’s inspirations span cultures around the world, at the core of FRGMT is Japan’s streetwear scene and retro Americana. Dubbed ‘a love letter to Moncler’, the capsule collection features streetwear staples like quilted puffer jackets and varsity jackets adorned with a reimagined version of Moncler’s monogram logo. The varsity jacket, said to be a favourite style of Fujiwara’s, is at the core of the collection with each piece stamped with a unique serial number making them one-of-a-kind collector’s items.
For the collection’s accompanying campaign, Moncler and FRGMT have enlisted K-pop star Hwang Minhyun to be their global brand ambassador. Titled 'Love is Human', the campaign shot by Tokyo-based photographer and director Xavier Tera sees Minhyun and his crew traverse Seoul through the eyes of LOVOT, a robot created to provide unconditional love. The robot might not be for sale, but there's still plenty to love from Moncler's latest collab with the cult-favourite brand.
