Creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli took the phrase ‘pretty in pink’ and ran with it when dreaming up Valentino’s F/W 22 collection. The sickly sweet hue engulfed everything from the clothes to the set, and now the brand’s latest campaign. Starring none other than Hollywood starlet Zendaya, the statuesque thespian wanders through a wondrous world of pink in this cinematic scenario. Since 2020 the star of Dune and Euphoria has been the face of Valentino and Piccioli's first choice for countless campaigns. As if her acting chops could ever be in question, the fashion film comes hot off the heels of her latest Emmy win, snagging the Lead Actress Drama statuette for a second time at the 2022 Emmy Awards.
Coinciding with the campaign's release is a special capsule collection created in partnership with Canadian visual artist and novelist Douglas Coupland. Best known for his 1991 international bestseller Generation X: Tales For An Accelerated Culture, the writer's musings take centre stage with evocative quotes like ‘we all have secret messages hidden within us', and ‘I miss my pre-internet brain’, stamped on a selection of t-shirts and sweatshirts. Coupland previously worked with Valentino on the A/W show producing an exclusive booklet, Pink PP Seen by Douglas Coupland.
