Molly Bair by Richard Kilroy
“I’m choosing my picture from the Men’s Margiela show [A/W 18]. The reason this show empowered me was because it enabled me to celebrate my masculinity. Although my facial appearance is feminine, I have often been mistaken for a man as well as mocked for my boyish physique. Obviously, this has created a lasting insecurity and an internal self-identity conflict. Thus, however shallow it may seem, it was very exciting to have my masculine side treasured by Margiela — instead of feeling ashamed of my lack of femininity.”
