published on 12 August 2022

‘Fashion is dressing your own body and feeling confident. Dressing yourself for a role, dressing yourself to match your mood. Or dressing your body as a way to rebel against expectations.’ - Michaela Stark.

Fashion designer and artist Michaela Stark makes custom corsets which re-sculpt and contort the female body, challenging societal conventions of beauty.

SHOWstudio's editorial assistant, writer Christina Donoghue, spoke with Stark about navigating the highs and lows of being a provocative designer, and collaborating with Nick Knight on a staggering 3D sculpture.
