Kev Stenning

3D Imaging Specialist

Kev Stenning is the founder of Rapido3D, a 3D laser scanning and 3D object bureau. Stenning first began to work with laser scanning technology in 1995, initially for other practitioners, before establishing Rapido3D in 2000, due to his own interest in burgeoning scanning technology and to meet fresh creative demands from the art, film and increasingly fashion industry.

Since establishing Rapido3D, Stenning has worked with a wide variety of practitioners in these fields, miniaturising and enlarging three-dimensional artworks, creating specialist film props and sets, and also working with fashion photographers to push the boundaries of three-dimensional imaging. This has focussed on two-dimensional images but is increasingly moving into three-dimensional renderings from photographs. Of the process of 3-D scanning, Stenning states: 'Everything is semi-contrived: you have a storyboard, you have a client, you have the project but using technology outside of its intended purpose and constantly pushing boundaries you're never sure what you'll end up with.'
Rapido3D's clients include Nike, BBC, Warner Bros, Paramount, Sony, Swarovski, Ron Mueck, Nick Knight, Sølve Sundsbø and Lancôme Paris, and has scanned models and celebrities including Gary Oldman, Liam Neeson, Angelina Jolie, Christian Bale, Naomi Campbell, Lady Gaga, Claudia Schiffer and Kate Moss. Motion pictures featuring Rapido3D's work include the Harry Potter series, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Perfume, and Tomb Raider I and II.
