Shoot Footage: The Cell

published on 18 March 2015

In 1999, Nick Knight and Lee McQueen teamed up to create an image for the debut issue of Tina Brown's Talk magazine. McQueen appears bound in chains and hanging from his own flesh in a padded cell. The themes of torment, insanity, isolation and captivity reflected McQueen's unhappiness working as head designer at Givenchy. As always, Knight recorded the entire shoot for his archive using handycams.
