Fashion Film: Another Day
Filmed through multiple lenses, Layna Miyazaki's Another Day emulates the presence of a Zoom call that's been recorded through nine lenses in total. Each screen is the same, with the middle focused on a tap dancer performing. The sound of the dancer's steel toe-cap shoe mirrors the anguish of a furious typer, only the difference is the tap dancer is calm in her solitude, a feeling accentuated through the soothing nature of the music, suggesting the performer is in her own world; a trance-like dream that's been envisioned rather than existing in reality, creating a peaceful yet utopian ambience.
The screens change as the film unfolds. First the dancer is seen performing in a woodland area before the overlapping background, a Bonsai tree at first, changes to the ocean, and then a sunset just in time for all the screens to join, matching the middle rectangle towards the end of the tap-dance.
